Intro to Botanical Art with Dr Tabatha ForbesTutor: Tabatha Forbes
Forbes & Flay, 40 Tasman Street, Ōpunakē Saturday 7 November 2020 10.00am - 2.00pm (4 hours) Cost per person: $80 All materials supplied Come and join artist Dr Tabatha Forbes for an introduction into beautiful Botanical drawing during Taranaki’s 2020 Garden Festival. The workshop will provide a one-day foundation course to this timeless art practice and will cover basic drawing techniques, composition and ink stippling. Tabatha has worked extensively in the field of natural history and contemporary botanical art and regularly exhibits in New Zealand and the Cook Islands where she and her family lived for 6 years. Her interest in botanical art history in New Zealand and the relevance of working with the subject of nature, as a form of eco-therapy motivates her research and practice. Tabatha has a Doctorate in Fine Arts and has been teaching botanical art for nearly two decades. Jenny and Guy’s garden became a Garden of National Significance in 2005. Jenny has a Bachelor of Amenity Horticulture and is a Trustee of the New Zealand Gardens Trust. Jenny is also famous for her hanging baskets! She spent the English spring of 2000 touring English garden centres demonstrating how to make them. Her workshops are held in her garden, a joy in itself to experience. Hanging baskets are fun and simple to do if you follow a few basic rules. You can create a spectacular combination of plants that you will enjoy for many months. Come along and learn about the tips and tricks that Jenny uses when creating her baskets.
